Alvin Chen, DMD
Dr. Chen is a dedicated general dentist recognized for his comprehensive, patient-centered approach to care. A proud Delaware native, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware before attending Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry, where he graduated at the top of his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Following dental school, Dr. Chen completed a rigorous one-year General Practice Residency at Christiana Care Hospital, further enhancing his clinical expertise and commitment to excellence in patient care.
His journey to dentistry was shaped by cultural experience, personal resilience, and a passion for hands-on work. Growing up as the child of immigrants in Wilmington, Delaware, Dr. Chen’s early dental visits were unconventional—long trips to a small dental office hidden inside a Chinatown supermarket, chosen more for linguistic familiarity than clinical excellence. These experiences exposed him to disparities in care and inspired a commitment to making quality dentistry accessible to all.
Dr. Chen’s manual dexterity and work ethic were developed early while helping in his family’s Chinese restaurant. His interest in dentistry deepened through shadowing experiences, where he witnessed the transformative power of advanced technology and compassionate care.
He takes pride in helping patients achieve confident, healthy smiles. Dr. Chen takes a personable approach to care, emphasizing patient education and building long-term relationships built on trust.
He is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Delaware State Dental Society (DSDS), and Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). He stays current in the field through continuing education and active involvement in the dental community.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Chen enjoys staying active and exploring new experiences. His hobbies include playing pickleball, powerlifting, running, traveling, trying new foods, and listening to EDM music. He currently lives in Wilmington with his girlfriend, Shannon. Together, they enjoy hiking adventures—often followed by well-earned meals, as Dr. Chen never passes up the chance to refuel with great food.
